Projects

DSCF0018

We currently have a few major projects, but we’re always looking for ideas for more things that we can do.

Why not take a look at what we already offer and contact us if you would like to take part, volunteer to help with one of them or have a new suggestion. Our contact information can be found here.

Our first, and by far our most popular, project is help with applying for benefits. We currently offer help to fill in Personal Independence Payment (PIP) and all other relevant benefit forms including; Disability Living Allowance (DLA), Employment Support Allowance (ESA) and Attendance Allowance. We will also help you should you need to appeal a decision.

Secondly, we run a social and activities group (kindly supported by the People’s Health Trust) every Wednesday and Friday in the office. Activities range from games to arts and crafts, or just sitting having a blether.  We’re a friendly bunch, so why not come down and see us and have a cuppa? Why not check our Facebook page and see what’s coming up?

We have been training up some volunteers in blog writing, podcasting and all things media related. While this project is still in it’s infancy, we think we’ve already produced some great work! You can have a look at some of it here. If you’d like some more information have a look at our Facebook page, and while you’re at it give us a quick ‘like’. If you’d like to get involved and learn how to write blogs, create podcasts or film a short documentary, then get in touch with the office.

Recently, we’ve been supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund to explore the living history of the disabled community in Aberdeen. We’ve been filming interviews and some other things and we think the results are fascinating. You can see them here, or on our blog. We’re still really interested in collecting more stories, so if you want to tell us about your life and contribute to this, then get in touch.

We also offer occasional “one off” activities and events, often as fund raisers. These vary from the traditional bake and jumble sales, to extravagant evenings with food, wine and entertainment. We’ve even risked our necks abseiling from the Forth Road bridge to raise some cash.

We are always looking for more activities and services to offer.

To get involved with one of our projects, or to suggest a new one, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
